Description: Confederate State of Georgia private purchase saber by Isaac & Co. This is NOT a standard model British 1853. The saber is a blockade runner Minna delivered British Import Model 1853 Isaac & Co. This Cavalry Saber was a private purchase by the State of Georgia with the “G” stamped on the blade, an estimate of only 1,000 Sabers and Cavalry knots were purchased and have the “G” stamp on the blade per the McRae papers and invoices along with blockade runner Minna manifest listed as specified cargo packed 25 to the case and sold for 15 shillings and 4 pence per saber. College Hill Arsenal has a nice write up on some of the history of the rare “G” stamped Georgia Saber’s. The Cavalry Saber condition is what you see in photos complete with battle scars, the saber has dark patina throughout with areas of more moderate corrosion, the handle is complete and tight with no cracks present or missing pieces, the markings of the “G” and Isaac & Co are clear and crisp, the blade is tight and has areas of corrosion throughout with pitted areas, the scabbard has dark patina and areas of more moderate corrosion and dents throughout, the scabbard throat is missing and no “G “stamp is visible on scabbard, an “ X “ mark on the drag is visible, no other markings are visible on scabbard, this may or may not be the original scabbard. This scabbard has always been with this saber as long as our family has had it in our collection. Please use photos for the condition evaluation of sword and scabbard and request additional photos if needed, please feel free to message me with questions and I will respond promptly. You will most likely not find another “G” stamped saber on the open market, please do your own research and thank you for viewing my listing.
