M1850 Foot Officer Sword - Presentation GradeM1850 Foot Officer Sword - Presentation Grade.Manufactured: Philadelphia Maker: W.H. Horstmann & Sons Year: CW Model: M1850 Foot Officer Size: 31.00 Condition: VG M1850 Foot Officer Sword - Presentation Grade. High grade sword from Horstmann. Standard brass foot officer guard with additional hand chasing to the pommel cap. Silver grip with draqoon wire is in nice condition. Blade would have been Hortmann's highest grade and would normally have been a combination of "white" frost and gold wash. Obverse blade etch is stamp of Kings head which is the mark of Wyersberg and a hand etch of W.H. Hortmann & Sons Philadelphia on the lower blade / panel etch of a spread winged eagle. Reverse blade is hand etched Iron Proof / Panel etchwith US. Blade has tunred gray and no frost of gold wash remains. Scabbard is leather and very sound. Both mounts and drag are hand chased with foliate on both sides. Top mount on reverse has a blank presentation shield and middle mount has scibe lines where another presentaion could be added.
