Description: US Civil War Model 1840 Cavalry Sword. The ricasso is marked "W. Walscheid" over "Solingen". The grip, guard, and pommel all wiggle. The grip is down to the wood, and it has a few crackle lines. The twisted wire wrap is gone. The blade is lightly sharpened, several nicks on the lower half, has age spots with some surface rust scattered throughout, and it has a couple minor bends on the last 9" towards the tip. Leather washer is missing and there is a strand of copper wire where the washer should be. No scabbard and it does not fit the one I have listed. Length of the blade is 36" (1 3/16" wide and 5/16" thick), and the sword is 41 1/2". Check out my other War Items! Including More Swords and Many Bayonets!
