Description: For your eBay consideration today here's a set of twelve (12) seasoned valve springs for the Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth flathead six engines. Fitment for the 1934~1959 passenger vehicle flathead sixes, both 23" cylinder heads (201, 217, 230 ci), and the 25" cylinder heads (218, 228, 237, 242, 251, 265 ci). Condition is used. Tested, sorted for minimal variation. The long story:• So, I disassembled seven or eight flatheads last winter and this spring. Chrysler, DeSoto, Dodge, Plymouth engines, from the early 40's through 1959 donors. All of the valve springs went in a box.• My favorite machine shop stuck said springs in their hot tank cleaner for an hour. They're a lot cleaner than when disassembled, but honestly another hour would have been better.• I set up a jig on an arbor with a spring pressure tester and tested at compressed height of 1.375" (e.g., valve open), and sorted the results.• I reset the jig for a test at compressed height of 1.75" (at rest, on the valve,valve seated/closed) and sorted the results.• Of the 78 springs tested, one (1) was clearly too soft, at half the expected value.• Of the remaining 77 springs, five (5) furthest outliers were set aside, leaving a nice bell shaped curve of between the 90th and 95th percentiles.• Of the remaining 72 springs, six (6) sets of twelve (12) springs were selected as matched sets, minimizing variation amongst the set selected.• Two of those sets are set aside for my upcoming engine rebuilds.• The remaining four sets are listed here for sale, helping recoup my expenses in the parts engines dismantled, and for the spring tester.
