Description: Charvel Model 4 from 1987-1988, in the rare Lava Crackle finish. It's in pretty good shape, but has a decent amount of chips on the body. Fortunately, the paint finish does an excellent job of blending the touched up spots in. There is a small spot above the neck pickup, a few spots along the belly cut, and some around the tremolo cavity - where the wood was repaired and supported with the steel post brace (these things are awesome, they make the 2 post setup really solid, and a future break impossible). Other that these imperfections, there is only very minor fretwear. It shouldn't need any fretwork or even a setup - it plays pretty awesome right now. Comes with vintage Charvel Chainsaw case (toothpaste logo).InformationThe Model 4 was at the top of the bolt-neck line, with the same hardware and active electronics as the 6. Its thin, quartersawn rock maple neck has a satin finish and a wide, flat fingerboard. The body is basswood – medium weight, but solid. The single-coils are Jackson J200s; the humbucker a J50BC with “accentuated high frequency.” Like most good active pickup systems, it has a clean, wide frequency response with no noise. The toggles are on/off for each pickup, the vibrato is a Jackson JT6, and controls are one Volume, one Tone, and a pre-amp midrange boost/cutNut Width: 43 mm (1-11/16 inch)12th fret width: 52 mmFinal fret width: 56 mmNeck Material: MapleNeck finish:GlossFretboard: RosewoodFretboard radius: 305 mm (12 inch) 406 mm (16 inch)Scale Length: 25.59 inch (650 mm)Frets: 22I do a basic setup on the guitars I sell:Clean the entire body Done 10/28/24Clean and oil (rosewood or ebony only) the fretboard Done 10/28/24Polish the frets Done 10/28/24New set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's - Done 10/28/24Tune to E Standard Done 10/28/24Set the IntonationI set the bridge level with body Done 10/28/24Set the bridge/string height Done 10/28/24Set the bridge pickup height Done 10/28/24Adjust truss rod if necessaryI do not stretch the strings or tighten the 3 lock nutsPacking and ShippingI always loosen the strings and support the tremoloSpecial care is given to protect the headstock, especially if it is tilt-backI wrap any accessories away from the guitarGuitars I ship without a case get completely bubble wrapped and then surrounded by padding inside the guitar shipping box.I always ship using UPS Ground with insurance and signature required. The majority find my setups to be just right, and playable without any professional intervention.
