ABOUT CECIL ALDIN Cecil Aldin, successful in his own time as an illustrator of books and magazines, a painter, and a writer, was born in Slough, England in 1870 His art featured one of his lifelong passions, hunting. Aldin became famous for his watercolors and prints of foxhunting scenes in the English countryside, as well as his portrayal of the dogs, horses, and animals that were the center of these activities. Aldin, whose art has become increasingly popular over the years, is especially appreciated today for his special talent drawing dogs. Aldin, like Lucy Dawson, was able to capture the true character of the many dogs and breeds he studied. Aldin's talents, greatly appreciated by his contemporaries, resulted in a wide array of collectibles available today that bear his famous dog images.
