Carnegie Modernist Flower Brooch with Crystal Pavé

But this Hattie Carnegie highly stylized modernist flower brooch sure echoes its silhouette and its vibes.This floral brooch has an off-center domed bloom with a dynamic swoosh or tail, reminiscent of our visions of a shooting star. And like a shooting star that takes away our breath with its rarefied beauty, this Carnegie brooch does too.In style, our brooch actually reminds me of 1960s designs by two other costume jewelry greats - Marcel Boucher and Emanuel Ciner. Boucher bird brooches from this era have similar aesthetics, especially the graceful swoosh. Some of Ciner’s floral brooch of this period has similar sculptural look, accented with multi-hue crystal pave.Our brooch’s 3-D flower is on one end of this asymmetric design. It has a bulbous center meticulously inset with glittery crystals in two colors, golden topaz and gray.A round of shiny golden petals surround the center, and around this, on the top side of the flower, is another layer of thinner, taller and textured petals.From the bottom side of the flower radiates a cluster of multi-length swooshes (maybe representing leaves or branches). These thin, long lines flare out at the base and are tapered close to the flower. Some ones are textured, and some are smooth and shiny.The modernist design lends flexibility to the presentation. The brooch looks great every which way it’s positioned: with the flower at the top, side, or bottom. Check our pictures for some possibilities, they all look dynamic!The brooch is about 2 1/2” long and 1 1/2” wide. It has a locking c-clasp. It is marked Hattie Carnegie in script and within an oval cartouche.In overall very good condition. All the crystals are intact and glittery, the goldtone is still mostly rich in hue and present.
