Description: Real photo postcard measuring approx. 3 7/16 in. by 5 7/16 in. On the oregonnews.uoregon.edu website I found an ad for this place in the Aug. 28, 1908 issue of the Oregon City Courier. It says it was located 4 miles from Oregon City, 2½ miles from Gladstone and 12 miles from Portland. The typed blurb on the back of this card says – “Notice – Now ready for business, noted for our famous chicken dinners. A. Erickson. Phon Main 305I. Oregon City, Oregon.” In the close-up scans from the image, you can see the following – the “Tavern Grill” sign above the front door / the small hard-to-read sign to the L of the door that says, “Chicken Dinners [????]” / the small hard-to-read sign R of the door that says, “No Intoxicating Liquor Sold Here” / and a partial sign L of the balcony that appears to say that something with the letters …MONA… in it was available for 50¢ a gallon. Condition – nice clear image with faces sharp enough to be recognizable (one assumes that the proprietor, A. Erickson is the man in front of the door); light wear; mild soil including some mild silvering on some of the darker areas of the image. Thanks for bidding!
