Description: This outstanding antique miniature is a portrait of the popular opera singer and dancer Louise-Rosalie Lefebvre (1755-1821) also known as Madame Dugazon. The picture is wonderfully executed on vellum and is housed in a period wood frame (looks to be walnut) beneath convex glass. Signed and dated 1782 bottom right, the whole presentation is in its original format and I don’t think the painting has ever been removed from its original frame which is something rare indeed. This painting is just a lovely little gem and just about everything you could want in a period miniature. Measures 5.75” x 5” to ends of frame.
