Description: Color of Jazz 🎷 2011 Vena Grebenshikov Canvas Oil Acrylic New Orleans Vena Grebenshikov started his professional artistic career in 1978 after he graduated from the Art & Architecture Institute of Kyrgyzstan. Throughout the years, he practiced interior design, architecture, metal sculpting, and painting in his hometown of Siberia, Russia, and all around Asia. Vena’s artistic talents merged into a focused, vibrant career in oil painting in 2001. Every piece of art is manifested from a photograph or an image that he sees in everyday life or throughout his travels. Using this as his key influence, Vena has continued to paint canvasses that capture images of unique architecture, the rustic brick buildings that tower above the narrow streets; musicians and musical instruments illustrate his love of music and the performing arts. His main way of illustrating these visuals is through a style most similar to the impasto painting technique. This gives a sense of three-dimensionality to the texture of the painting by using palette knives to apply pigment (acrylic and oil) thickly on the canvas. This rich painting style combined with the vibrant color choices conveys Vena’s intent of exposing all people everywhere to the unique reality of his surroundings through his bright and abstract depiction of the arts. Vena is the owner and resident artist of Vena Gallery & Studio in New Orleans.
