Description: RAISED AND ORGANICALLY GROWN in MY GARDEN in the USA. I raise butterflies so no pesticides ever in my garden 9+ years. Blue Butterfly Pea Seeds - you will get 20 newly harvested seeds. (Clitoria Ternatea). Quantity per pack - 20 Seeds Blue pea vine is a “mesic” plant, needing an abundance of water and consistently moist soil for healthy growth but to be optimum it needs good drainage. (If grown in pot I just thrown in 1/4 sand or perlite) How to Grow Butterfly Pea? This plant is a conversation piece. The color blue is astounding! It is so worth growing. And its pretty forgiving & easy. It is from the Fabaceae family and the seeds are big, easy to handle, germinate well and grow well. Best to get pots ready after u order. Nursery pots don’t have to be large to work. In fact I start mine in 2.5” cell pots. To germinate Seeds: soil Mixture should contain good potting mix & perlite or sand. (I always do a little more soil. Like 3/4 potting mix + a handful of perlite or sand) Lay the seeds about an inch apart or 1 to small 2.5” pot. Seeds should be planted NO MORE than a half inch under ground if in ground but I do much better starting in little pots. You can control the soil added on top. I saturate the potting mix. I push in a seed & Barely cover with 1/4” of soil. Tamp down lightly & water in well. keep out of direct sun but keep soil warm. (Not in cold room). After 5-12 days you will see Sprouts depending on warmth of soil. After 2 or 3 weeks transfer to the growing area or simply larger pots. I only fertilize once plant is fully established maybe 4 - 5 weeks old. Then once a month. It is much better to add light compost or any other natural fertilizer, lightly around plant but not close so u don’t burn roots. As the compost breaks down the roots are nourished. In favorable conditions the flowering starts about a month and a half after the germination and continues until the temperatures and soil humidity allow. The blossoms are about 1.5” wide & 2” long. The seed pods are edible while unripe. The flowers produce an edible dye suitable for coloring of food. Many countries use dry Butterfly pea flower as herbal tea drink.
