Description: British General Officer Pattern 1831 Mameluke Sword/Saber W Scabbard London Made. Very rare and desirable British Model 1831 Mameluke General Grade Officer Sword. This is an extremely rare and desirable sword from an iconic time in British colonization of the world who knows which general carried this sword with them. This pattern was used until around 1900 but this example actually dates to the mod 1830s so it is a very early example of this blade. It was made by Buckmaster 3 New Burlington St London. The blade is heavily etched on both side with brass handle and ivory or bone grips. No chips or bends to the blade. It had the very very rare original leather scabbard with 3x brass fittings. The solod brass handle is all hand etched and so is the scabbard fittings. Overall it is a stunning example of an extremely desirable early sword. Now i will mention a few issues. It does have spotting to the blade possibly at least were rust once was. There is no current rust on the sword. The blade does have a slight bit of movement in the handle but that would just be associted with general shrinkage and aging. The scabbard leather has been wrapped in a black tap like material im guessing to hold it all together and kept it from further deteriotation or wear. It isnt the mintest example but it is one of the earliest examples for sale on the market, the only with the original leather scabbard and it is a true survivor. I understand the images arent the best if you feel like you need bettwe images or images of a certain spot or under different lighting feel free to ask and i will make it happen! Thanks a ton for looking i have owned this for a few years and it was a tough choice to decide to let it go but i think its time to move it along of course if the price is right! Thanks again for looking
