Description: Outstanding Early Original 1/6th Plate Antique Daguerreotype Photo, Young Baby Girl, Maybe 6 Months Old, In Stylish Dress, Taken c.1840 DESCRIPTION: Nice early antique cased daguerreotype image taken during the very early days of popular daguerreotype photography, c1840. I apologize for the reflected light/camera in my scans, obviously not part of the actual photo itself, which is clear and particularly high quality. THIS ONE IS PARTICULARLY RARE, of a very young baby. Extremely clear and bright image. Child appears to be holding a small doll or similar toy. ALSO, HAS SILK FABRIC RATHER THAN LATER STYLE VELVET PLUSH, AGAIN TYPICAL OF THE VERY EARLIEST DAGS AND HELPING TO DATE THIS ONE, C.1840. This dag has great, early mid-1800's subject matter. Nice seated antebellum pose and appearance. 1/6 plate size, in an early plate brass mat, set in its original leather case. In excellent condition. Has both parts of the case, WITH THE ORIGINAL COMPLETE & INTACT HINGE, quite unusual. STILL THE ORIGINAL CASE THAT THE PHOTO HAS BEEN IN FOR 180+ LONG YEARS!!! THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING, GREAT EARLY EARLY DAG, WITH SUCH A SMALL CHILD AND IN SUCH SUPURB CONDITION!! VERY UNUSUAL AND VERY NICE TO FIND SUCH AN EARLY, CLEAR ANTIQUE DAGUERREOTYPE PHOTO !!!
