Description: This is an OFFICIAL 2004 WORLD SERIES (Selig) Baseball signed by 2x All Star, member of the Red Sox Hall of Fame and former Red Sox pitcher BOB STANLEY in blue pen. He added the great inscription "It's about damn time" under his name. The signature rates an 8.5/10. The ball itself is lightly toned throughout and has a few small stray spots and surface blemishes throughout. Please look at pictures for further detail. Stanley was a key member of the 1986 Red Sox team that came within one strike of winning the World Series but ultimately fell to New York in seven games. Stanley entered Game 6 with the Red Sox one out away from clinching their first World Series since 1918. But his wild pitch to Mookie Wilson allowed New York to tie the score, and then New York won Game 6 on Bill Buckner's fielding error that allowed Ray Knight to score from second base. Stanley and the Red Sox would return to Shea Stadium for Game 7, in which New York would ultimately be victorious by a score of 8-5.This ball comes with a Tristar sticker affixed to the ball (no card).
