NUMBER OF PHOTOS: 1 COMMENTS / CONDITION: Offered is an approximately 3-1/2"x5-1/2" real photo postcard of Bob O'Farrell, pictured in his Chicago Cubs uniform circa 1934. The original photo was taken by George Burke in 1934, but this card was produced some time later (no earlier than the 1950's judging by the standard Kodak back). Comes from a large collection of such postcards that we will be listing over the coming months, all having standard postcard backs but being postally unused. Wear on these, if any, is mostly confined to minor corner and edge wear, but see scans for further details including condition. BIO: Robert Arthur O'Farrell was born in Waukegan, IL and died in 988 in Waukegan, IL. He played major league baseball from 95 to 935 as catcher for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and the Cincinnati Reds, and appeared in the 98 and 926 World Series. He won the National League Most Valuable Player award in 926. That same year he led the Cardinals to their first World Series championship, defeating the mighty New York Yankees in seven games, by throwing out Babe Ruth trying to steal second base for the last out of the 926 World Series.
