Description: Greetings, all you connoiseurs of classic 35mm film cameras! You are in luck. I have decided to sell my beloved Beseler Topcon Super D. EVERYTHING WORKS PERFECTLY. Please see this link[1] to the Super D manual (free download). I reference that manual in lieu of describing all the innovative features of this camera, in particular, the first through-the-lens metering system. This camera was a bar mitzvah gift to me (in 1958!) It was given to me by my great uncle, Herb Myers, who was the owner of the Charles Beseler Company that imported these cameras from Japan. Unfortunately, their marketing efforts were not great, and Nikon and Canon soon took over the market. Of course, at the time, and as a young man, I had no idea how special this camera was. If you are not familiar with it, here are some reviews[2],[3],[4],[5],[6],[7],[8]. Note, the RE Super and the Super D are the same camera. The name was changed when it was marketed in the US. And, by the way, most websites claim this camera was not sold in the US until 1963, but as I got it from the head of the Beseler company in 1958, well, who knows. I am selling this camera with the standard 58mm f/1.8 lens, which is in perfect condition. No dust, no mildew. The only downside to this offering is that there are several ‘dings’ on the case (see photos). I’m sure you will have noticed that a Super D camera body without ‘dings’ is almost impossible to find! Also, the internal back surface of the pentaprism has some dust or mildew, under the black paint. But of course, this does not affect the pictures taken in any way. By the way, the meter works, and its reading are consistent across all ASA values. I include a battery for your convenience, as the original mercury cell is no longer available. The replacement cell works just fine. Lens cap and 49mm skylight filter included. I also include a pretty beat-up original Topcon (real leather) case.
