It weighs 1# 5.1 oz. and measures 7" in length, 1-3/4" in width, & 2" height. This is a very thick specimen and can be cut in half. Petrified bark & crystal pockets on the back side. This specimen is from the Chinle formation in Northeastern Arizona. This area is famous for its varied and brilliantly colored petrified wood. It dates back to the Triassic era & is of the extinct species of tree, Araucarioxylon Arizonicum. The different colors are due to the different minerals present during the petrification process. This piece has all the colors you would expect from a specimen of petrified rainbow wood. This beautiful specimen will make a great display piece.
