Common Uses: Bay Laurel essential oil is used as an expectorant and decongestant. Some sources also suggest that Bay Laurel essential oil can be used for headaches, especially sinus-related headaches. The essential oil is used as a digestive aid, stimulating the appetite and the production of salivary juices. Liniments and arthritis creams can contain Bay Laurel essential oil. Rub the mixture as vigorously as possibly into the affected area, stimulating blood flow with the friction of rubbing. A warm compress or heat pack can be applied afterward to aid the penetration of the oil and continue its warming action. However, some sources caution that there is a mild risk of irritation.
