Be careful pointing the beam, even briefly, at anything flammable or that can be damaged by heat even if the object is at a distance of dozens of yards/meters away. Do not leave the device powered on and unattended. Do not underestimate how quickly the beam can heat an object in a very short amount of time. Eye Safety: It is absolutely essential that proper laser safety goggles are used for viewing the laser beam spot at close ranges (even 20 feet away can be too bright for the naked eye). Use CE OD4+ safety goggles rated for the light wavelength of this laser device. Be careful of fake safety goggles. Look for a CE rating and the specifications printed on the lens of the goggles. Good goggles don't have to be expensive and just because they're expensive doesn't mean they're good. Laser Device Specific Information: Optical Power: Proven with nearly 6 watts of optical output through the lens as tested using my calibrated optical laser power meter. See pictures for the exact power of this specific laser device. Superior Run Time Duty Cycle: Over 10 minutes of run time at max power before the laser diode reached it max operating temperature of 65 degrees C. See listed photos. Then let it cool for 1 minute or reduce the power to a lower mode and keep going. Also, if you purchase the Lens Protection Cap that attaches to the faceplate and covers the LD lens, then the laser is water resistant and clean water can be poured over it to cool it down instantly. Intelligent Laser Driver: Navigate through High, Medium, Low and Extra Low brightness modes with ease. A full click on the tail switch powers on the device, while you can use the forward button to cycle through four brightness levels. Driver Safety Features:Overcurrent Protection: Adjusts power output if battery amperage is insufficient. Undervoltage Protection: Gradually reduces brightness to protect Li-ion cells from damage due to low voltage, signaling with a blinking light before shutting down.Main Power Tail Switch Assembly: The high-current forward clicky type switch is mounted on a thick PCB. A heavy gauge phosphor bronze spring is reinforced for greater current handling using braided copper wire. With the switch removed, no one can activate the laser. The laser comes with a carry case for the removable switch module. Separate Forward Mode Switch: The device features a forward button switch to navigate through the modes. Battery Power Gauge: The device is equipment with 4 leds that indicate the power level remaining in the batteries. Note that the driver may shut down the laser, or reduce to a lower power mode, before the batteries are completely run out as a safety feature. Adjustable Focus Lens: Customize your beam pattern with an adjustable focus lens. Simply twist the focus bell of the device to focus the beam anywhere from infinity to a tiny spot at a short distance that can be used for engraving/burning. Laser Lens: High quality 3 element glass lens with AR (Antireflective) coating and brass housing. Size M9x0.5xL10; EFL 11mm; AR coating 400-600nm; SD 8mm; NA 0.45. Note the shape of the beam spot in the pictures. It's more of a dash "-" shape than a round dot. Battery: Two very high quality 26650 KeepPower 6000mAh battery is included. Notice in the pictures that these batteries tested at over the rated 6000mAh!! Magnetic Expansion Port: Each BAFL device includes a strong magnetic electromechanical connector that provides 5VDC-1A and connects to a NTC 100K thermistor. The thermistor is attached to the back of the laser diode and embedded in CPU heatsink compound for complete heat transfer. Short circuit and over current protection is built in. Optional devices such as a temperature module can be attached to the port magnetically. Another optional attachment is a temperature controlled cooling fan that directs forced air over the bell cooling fins and thus providing unlimited max output power run time. When using the temperature module, note that 149 degrees Fahrenheit is the max rated temperature for this NUBM47 laser diode. Switch the laser to a lower power mode or completely off in order to let it cool down. Beam Expander Capable: A standard Beam Expander can be attached to the faceplate without the need for an adapter. For information on what Beam Expanders are, visit laserpointerforms.com. Beam expanders are used in industrial and commercial laser machines to perform specific tasks. The expander simply magnifies the incoming beam so that the output beam is larger/fatter. Front Accessory Mount: A heavy duty mount for accessories and attachments is machined into the device face plate. Current attachments include a Safety Cap and a LPC (Lens Protection Cap). Optional Safety Caps: The safety caps can be mounted on either or both the power switch and the laser output lens. With the safety cap installed over the switch, the button cannot be inadvertently pressed. The safety caps come with a "Remove Before Flight" tag, a lobster claw clip, and wrist strap. Use the wrist strap with lobster claw clip to attach the safety cap(s) when not attached to the laser device and keep them close by. Optional Laser Lens Protection Cap: The LPC (Lens Protection Cap) installs on the laser faceplate and covers the laser lens and therefore protecting the lens from any debris or impact. The window is made from quartz and is specifically for protecting laser lenses. The window and the cap both have high temperature tolerant silicon o-rings installed.
