Description: Authentic Siam/Thai Vintage Bronze Dessert Serving Set Add this intriguing serving set to your next dessert party. It is an exquisite bronze flatware set with a unique blend of utensils and a unique design with corkscrew handles and Buddha design. It would make for a very unique addition to any social party. But maybe you better just keep it for display, it is a real collector’s find! Collectors take notice! This is not a US knock-off of an original design. Metal is bronze, not brass, and the black handles are made from buffalo horn !!!! The set is hand-made and authentic, made at the Siam Bronze Factory in Thailand. Authentication imprints on the utensils are “SBF SIAM” which is the seal of the Siam Bronze Factory. (See the authenticity markings in the pictures and read the attached correspondence from the Siam Bronze Factory below.) This set was purchased by my father-in-law in the 1950’s when he was serving with the US Armed Forces overseas. The full set has been passed down through our family and has been in protective storage for at least the past 25 years. The set includes 12 forks,12 spoons and an assortment of serving utensils. These include 3 tongs, 2 cake knives, 2 cake servers, 2 large serving spoons, 2 large serving forks, and what I think are 5soup spoons, 3 cheese knives, 5 cocktail forks, and 1 stirrer. It’s quite an interesting set. All total there are 49 separate pieces. Set is in great condition, barely used (if at all) and stored for at least the last 25 years. All pieces have been freshly polished. The bronze is in perfect shape, no signs of wear. However, there is some chipping of the buffalo horn handles on several of the serving pieces. Here is the letter I received recently from the Siam Bronze Factory, 1250 Charoen Krung Rd, Bangkok, Thailand 10500 after inquiring about the set. They confirmed that the set was authentic, hand made, but no longer in production. They wrote:They are handmade bronze cutlery with buffalo horn handle. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. Both metals are inert and safe to be used in making eating utensils. The craft in making bronze cutlery is unique and only in Thailand. Copper and tin are melted together at right proportion and cast in a mold piece by piece. Each piece then goes through various processes to the final finish, all by hand. The design at the end of the handle is of Angel holding both hands together in a position of paying respect. It is called Theppanum (เทพนม).This set is from our factory. SBF stands for Siam Bronze Factory.This pattern is no longer available.
