Wonderful and simply rare miniature circa 1870s stenciled tin light blue eggshell painted pail with gold stenciled in gold letters" A PRESENT" made by Stevens and Brown tin toy company measuring approximately 1 3/4". AKA J&E Stevens( Elisha Steven's) and George Brown tin toys . Elisha joined George in the 1870s to establish the Steven's and Brown toy firm in Connecticut. Very scarce and simply hard to find piece with original lid. These pieces rarely come up for sale and in more scarce in miniature size. Overall condition: obviously missing its bail and some paint loss as pictured. Remarkable original paint throughout with wonderful stenciled gold lettering. Very clean example and simply rare, though I do understand it's missing its bail. You'll find it very difficult to find another with such nice original paint.
