Most of the manufactory was destroyed in an explosion in 1858. It was rebuilt by Liebmann with the help of his business partner Wilhelm Ortel.In 1884 Alfred and Karl Wilhelm Voigt bought the manufactory and in 1890 a branch was opened in Unterweisbach. In 1896 the company was converted into a joint stock company.Financial problems caused by World War I and the ensuing global financial crisis forced the factory to close the Unterweisbach branch in 1928. Four years later, thanks to the efforts of Reinhold Rebhan and Max Krausse, the financial situation improved. The new owners named the factory Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur A.G..During World War II, the factory's production was concentrated on military products. In 1958, the East German government began to influence the management of the factory. In 1972 the factory was nationalised.In 1990, the Sietzendorf factory was privatised.
