Description: ARTIST: Herman Funch is a well-listed Danish artist, whose works have been offered at auctions multiple times and who was an exhibitor at the famous Charlottenborg. Funch was a student of HW Bissen, a famous Danish Golden Age sculptor, and started out both painting and sculpting, but from 1879 onwards, he dedicated his career to painting. He specialized in animal portraits, but also painted landscapes and houses. PAINTING: Oil on canvas. This small painting is a lovely rendering of a simple crossing over a small creek. The area surrounding the creek is thickly covered with lush vegetation and only a small section of sky is visible. It is dated to 1889. Signed: “HFunch” in the lower left corner. SIZE: With frame: 34,5 cm/13.6" * 25,5 cm/10". Without frame: 23,5 cm/9.3" * 14,5 cm/5.7". CONDITION: The painting is in good ready-to-hang condition - no holes, tears or missing paint. The frame has scratches and stains and is missing one side of the inner golden panel.
