Description: Well, this has to be one of the saddest things I have ever seen happen to an antique dress. Ugh. At some point in time, someone decided to remove the sleeves from this amazing silk dress from the early Edwardian era!!!! Whyyyyy????? The fabric is so gorgeous, being printed with sweet violets. It has staining throughout that I attribute to the silk satin being treated with metals. The bodice is trimmed with beautiful lace and black velvet. It has a hidden closure, the inner bodice closing up the front with hooks and eyes, and the overlay coming from the right side, over the front and closing on the left side with hooks and eyes. The overlay is gathered at top and bottom, giving it that Edwardian S-bend, pouter pigeon puff at the front. The collar begins at the back right side, is attached to the overlay and closes at the left back. I tried to get photos of the closing. It is lined with cotton and is boned. The skirt is not lined, and the fabric is so fine and thin that the gathering at the back of the waistband looks amazing! It is trimmed with a ruffle decorated with lace and the black velvet ribbon and it goes up diagonally on the left side. Oh how I wish this dress had its sleeves! It would be so epic!! Please see all photos for condition and any flaws. Measurements:Bodice:32" bust26" waist Skirt:26" waist44" front length49" back length160" circumference Listing for sleeveless dress only. I thought I would share a little bit about who you are buying this item from. My name is Gina and for the past 40 years, I have been an avid collector of antiques. At one point in time, my dream was to have a fabulous fashion museum that housed clothing, underwear, shoes, accessories and various items from the 1830s to the 1930s. Well, over time, that dream became a very unhealthy obsession so I am selling the vast majority of my museum off. My obedience to God is your gain! For most of last year I sold quite a bit of the museum on my Instagram page @thehouseofwhyte and that was fun, but a little too regimented for me and caused quite a bit of stress and anxiety. I am hoping that eBay is a better place to offer my items to new homes! I also sell newly crafted items on Etsy at theHOWboutique, if you would like to check out my integrity as a seller there!
