Description: Extremely rare LARGE antique circa 1870s large handwoven coil mat Southwest? basket. Uncertain of maker, age or provenance of this gorgeous primitive handwoven coil mat. Does have some damage at the end of coil at rim (see photos) - dark in color but still can see faded design in this huge mat, dirt/dust from years but, the rest of this handwoven mat is intact. Held in curio cabinet for years and just displayed as is. Could be restored by new owner. I did not clean it up and was told not to touch it as rare and fragile. I listed under primitive as uncertain of maker but looks Southwest? to me. If someone knows, please let me know and I will update this listing with any information shared. It is museum quality...beautifully handmade by an accomplished artisan long ago. Measurements: 21" x 21" 5/8" thick. I am liquidating a large three generation estate of fine antiques/collectibles. One former member used to be a serious basket collector in the past. Nothing was noted on this item so this is all I can share. It will be sold in as is as found condition and not returnable. It will be sold in 48 contiguous states in United States. Others, please use Ebay's Global Shipping program. Please ask questions, if any. Please look carefully at photos and listing description as exactly what you will receive if purchased. It's a large beautifully made antique primative handwoven coil mat - museum quality. Please note that all offers are seriously considered. Thank you for looking....
