Antique, hardcover, mid 19th century early edition of Livingstone's Travels in South Africa with no maps but handcolored full page illustration plates in overall good condition. Exterior of the book shows some rubbing or chipping to the upper and lower ends of the spine as well as some rubbing to the outer edges of the coverboards and some chipping at the back cover side of the spine face. Exterior is clean with gold gilded text to spine face still well intact. Interior of the book is overall clean but many pages show moderate to mild foxing and a few towards the middle show some mild water marks that remain for the most part marginal. Book is structurally well intact and the book is complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. Binding has loosened very slightly at the bottom strings of the first 40 or so pages; pages are still securely bound into the book though there is some minor wiggle at the lower ends. Book totals 442 pages followed by a 22 page publisher's advertisement. Book measures approximately 7 7/8 x 5 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches and weighs about 2 pounds.
