Description: This is a beautiful Mettlach tapestry stein (#1745) from Germany (1904) It is made from a combination of ceramic and pewter,, It has a figural inlaid lid of a hops bud. The text translates as "Be observant (careful) because foam isn't beer". The base of the mug is marked on the base "Mettlach VB GES.GESCH 1745 V 20 07" 1/4 L and embossed into the pottery #1745, the Mettlach logo, the V (means it is the fifth size down from 1 liter and in this case 1/4 liter which is also marked. This is a beautiful piece of ceramic pottery in its original hand painted condition. It has not been cleaned or washed in order to preserve its original condition for the collector! Stein is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or breaks. It measures 6 inches to the thumb lift. See pictured original receipt.! Thanks for looking. Check out our other auctions.
