The magazine was founded in 1890 as The Astrologer's Magazine, changing its name to Modern Astrology in 1895. Its stated object was to "thoroughly purify and re-establish the ancient science of Astrology. Through planetary symbology, it seeks to explain the ONE universal spirit in its varied manifestations." The periodical ran all the way until 1940, and along with other publications from its founder, helped revive astrology in the West after a steady decline the previous century.
