The end-grain has been sealed with wax. This species, Berchemia zeyheri, has a Janka hardness of around 3200. This blank has been slowly air-dried and is stored at ~45% relative humidity. Dense species will be susceptible to changes in RH and should be slowly acclimated to your shop dependant on your environment. One way that this can be done is by placing the blank in a brown paper bag and rolling it up. Monitor weight intermittently with a gram scale until fully acclimated (stops changing weight). *SHIPPING* Maximum combined shipping is just $10 if all items are under 12-7/8" in length.
