Description: I'm extremely pleased to offer for sale this incredible 54x77" medium weave rug featuring Navajo-centric figural motif (which is referred to as *Yei pattern) in grey, black, white and Navajo sandstone (reddish clay). This rug depicts 10 deities, which are female Yeis with medicine men on each end. Hand woven in New Mexico by an unknown weaver (thus the attribution Navajo-style as compared to simply a Navajo rug) circa 1970s using 100% wool pile. Has been in proper storage most of this time and remains in very nice condition, with no significant imperfections, but rather signs of wear indicative of normal age and use. Please note: one side is slightly brighter white and cleaner than the other. *Yei is the Navajo name for a deity or holy one. Yei spirits are believed to have healing powers and control the earthly elements: rain, snow, and sun. Many traditional Navajo consider weaving images of Yeis on rugs taboo, which is why the vast majority of these Yei rugs are not attributable to Navajo weavers. Please be sure to open the Shipment and Payments tab to see the various shipping options. I always provide as many shipping options as possible, given that some are better than others for different regions. The cost on the main page is not always the best, so choose the best option during checkout. Please note that I always use the correct box measurements and weight, so if shipping is expensive, it's because the major carriers continue to increase their prices, and because I pack my items extremely well, not because I'm making additional money on shipping. Thank you.
