Description: This auction features a very rare 35mm mounted color negative slide capturing Ava Monet in a stunning vintage pose from the 1980. Photographed by Bob Guccione. Ava Monet, who also went by the name Willoughby, was a notable figure in the adult entertainment industry, particularly recognized for her appearances in Penthouse magazine. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she grew up singing in the local church choir. In 1961, she moved to New York with her mother and older sister Jacqueline, who was pursuing a career as a singer. Ava is of Polish and Italian descent. She chose the surname “Willoughby” for her professional work after someone described her as “willowy.” Following in her sister Jacqueline Carol’s footsteps, Ava pursued a career in show business. She made her mark in experimental Off-Off-Broadway plays such as Che! by Lennox Raphael, where she portrayed both a nymphomaniacal nun and Fidel Castro. She also appeared in Dracula Sabbat and Keepers of the Hippo Horn. Ava’s mainstream acting roles included appearances in No Place to Hide (1970), Up the Sandbox (1972), I, the Jury (1982), and Trading Places (1983). She also ventured into softcore films like Voices of Desire (1972) and While the Cat’s Away… (1972). After retiring from pornography, she appeared in the mainstream film Married to the Mob (1988). Ava was known for delivering her acting performances in a tongue-in-cheek manner. She began her career in 1975, with notable appearances in films such as The Opening of Misty Beethoven (1976), The Farmer’s Daughters (1976), Outlaw Ladies (1981), and Foxtrot. Ava also featured in many adult magazines, most notably in the December 1980 issue of Penthouse. Besides acting, she wrote columns for magazines like High Society and Velvet, arranged film release parties, and toured as a burlesque dancer. Throughout her career, Ava Monet was an activist, speaking out in favor of the porn industry.
