Description: This listing is for a 1979 S Type 2 Kennedy Proof Half dollar. In 1979, the San Francisco Mint seemed to have produced a coin variety for the Kennedy Half Dollar. There are two types of the 1979 Proof Kennedy Half Dollar: a type I and a type II. The Type I is easier to find and generally carries a lower premium. The Type II is scarce and the total amount of this variety is unknown. The 1979-S Proof Kennedy Half Dollar Type II contains a slim, clean-cut "S" mint-mark on the obverse, wherein the Type I exhibits a filled-in "S." The 1979-S Proof was minted at the San Francisco Mint and its mirror-like finish glistens from rim to rim. The coin's date of mintage is also noted on the obverse, as well as the word, "Liberty," and the saying,"In God We Trust." The reverse depicts the US National Seal, which is of a Bald Eagle, with wings and talons outstretched, and a shield covering its torso. The eagle's talons are holding olive branches and arrows, each representing peace through battle. Please examine the condition of the coin pictured as it is the exact coin you will receive.
