Description: Over 60 years ago.... a 40-year-old golfer who played in this tournament would be 101 years old today. This golf trophy platter measures just over 14" in diameter and about 1-1/2" tall. It has a fancy embossed design on the inside, a fancy rim, and pierced sides. The center is engraved 1973 PRESIDENT'S CUP 9th FLIGHT WINNER with the logo of the Colonie Country Club (CCC) between the '19' and the '73'. The back (underside) is plain and unembossed/unengraved. I grew up in Albany NY, adjacent to Colonie. The rumor I had heard growing up was that the Colonie Country Club was started around WW1 when members of "a certain religion" were not allowed to join the "exclusive" golf country clubs around NY's Capital District. Eventually the CCC eclipsed those older elitist clubs both in terms of amenities, course quality, and membership numbers. Not sure exactly what the facts are, but the CCC is a very nice Country Club.
