1960s German Ton-Klar The Herrmann 4/4 Violin for William Lewis & Son Chicago

Description: This is a vintage 1960s Ton-Klar, German made, 4/4 violin. The model is "The Herrmann", model number 165 (according to the label), made for William Lewis & Sons in Chicago, Illinois. I have seen a few Ton-Klar models that are definitely student models, I don't think this one is. The Ton-Klar label is sitting under the bass-side f-hole. Under the treble side, there is a small label bearing the number "68148". This violin is quite beautiful, with a rich color and tightly figured maple back and sides. The patina overall is warm and rich, with minor wear to the top board. The top has been restored. Several cracks are repaired (cleated). The tone bar is in excellent condition, the sound post is standing, and the peg tuners are likely replaced. It has two fractional tuners and a new set of strings. At the top of the back board, just under the neck heel, there is an impressed number "C607". The reason for this number is not clear. Please feel free to contact me for more information.
