Description: This is for an original magazine program from the 1956 Democratic National Convention which was held at the International Amphitheater on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. Convention goers would nominate the duo of Illinois governor Adlai Stevenson for president and Tennessee senator Estes Kefauver for vice president who would lose the election in a landslide to Eisenhower and Nixon come November. Of special note is Special Majority leader Lyndon Baines Johnson of Texas and former Commissioner of baseball and Kentucky governor “Happy” Chandler were on the presidential ballot and John F Kennedy, Hubert H Humphrey, LBJ and Al Gore (Sr.) were all on the vice presidential ballot. But for some strange reason, the Democratic party leaders thought the team of Stevenson and Kefauver were what America wanted and needed. Oh well. The over sized program is in great shape and nearly impossible to find, especially this nice. Try finding another. Check out the scan and email with any questions.
