Description: This is a wonderful license plate from ARGENTINA, with a nice political history behind. In early 1952, just after La Pampa became a province, after being a Territory for many years, the name of the brand new province was changed to Eva Peron. In 1952 the plates were already manufactured as Provincia La Pampa when the change was made, so they issued a matching tab that was supposed to cover the name La Pampa and show the name Eva Peron on the plate (not many examples are around). The following year, in 1953, these plates were finally all issued as "Provincia Eva Peron". Each town got a plate with the town´s name on it, same as they were doing since plates started to be used in 1915. 1953 is also the last year, these plates were issued town by town. In 1955 a different type of plate showed up, but now on a provincial basis, but also "Provincia Eva Peron" (larger size orange over blue). This Colonia San Jose is a beautiful original example of how political history influenced the plates. Colonia San Jose is a very very small town. Original colors, black over cream.This is a Passenger/Private car issue. Please check condition on both sides, as some surface rust is present in the back, after years of storage. Measures 33x18 cm.
