Description: "ROARING GORILLA" BATTERY-OPERATED TOY - 1950s Modern Toys, Masudaya (Japan). 7" x 9.5" x 4". Color litho on tin with hard plastic eyes & rubber hands. We are offering a well-made battery-op "Roaring Gorilla" toy. NOTE: This non-functional example is for display purposes only (battery compartment is extremely oxidized). When working, monkey screeches loudly as his arms raise upward and green eyes light up. We feel the mechanical workings of this toy are possibly restorable with the proper mechanical knowledge and expertise. Having opted not to tinker with it, we are selling this item as a NON-WORKING example. That being said, we feel this toy offers a great "King Kong" look with nice attention to detail. NOTE: This tin toy was originally part of the "Battery Operated Shooting Gallery Roaring Gorilla" boxed set offered by Masudaya. Box, cork-firing gun, and corks are not included. Overall, a fair representative example with nice eye appeal, especially for the vintage MONSTER TOY collector. Condition is considered FAIR to POOR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Scattered litho scuffing with scattered spot oxidation, most extensively under base & in battery compartment. Rubber of hands still plyable. Green plastic eyes are still present & uncracked. Color litho is still bold & bright. Overall, we feel the graphic integrity of this toy is still quite appealing. NOTE: THIS IS NOT A WORKING EXAMPLE. Despite obvious defects, we feel it is still a very displayable representation by most standards (see photos).
