Krout, Employed at Plant About 19,000 disabled veterans employed by Navy throughout United States - of the total number of disabled veterans employed by the Navy, more than 2,500 are gainfully employed by Bureau of Ordnance field activities. Three of seven, John S. Krout, of York, Pennsylvania, lost his right arm just below the shoulder while serving with the 113th Calvary Reconnaissance unit. After encountering considerable difficulty in finding suitable employment because of his handicap, he was eventually employed in the Industrial Department of the Naval Ordnance Plant, York, Pennsylvania, expediting work from the progress office.
