Description: This product comes from the 1941 Double Play card set. The players depicted are Clarence Campbell and Louis Boudreau. Louis Boudreau was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1970. The 1941 Double Play (R330) card set consists of 75 cards, each one approximately 2-1/2” by 3-1/8”. Distributed by Gum Products, Inc., the cards depict two players in sepia tone photographs. (The cards are numbered, with two consecutive numbers per card – the player on the left has an odd number and the other player has an even number). Card backs are blank. This set’s roster contains virtually all of the early 1940s major stars like Ted Williams (#57, #81) and Joe DiMaggio (#63), as well as more than 30 Hall of Famers including Pee Wee Reese (#23), Mel Ott (#31, #89), Enos Slaughter (#39), Jimmy Foxx (#60), Lefty Gomez (#61), Phil Rizzuto (#62), Luke Appling (#70), Bob Feller (#78), Lefty Grove (#105), and Leo Durocher (#142). Card #s 81-100 contain action poses, with the last 50 numbers of the set slightly harder to find – though as a whole, the complete set is difficult to secure in nice condition.
