1936 D Buffalo 5c ~ 3 LEGGED ~ NO TAIL - Major Planchet & De-Lamination ERROR

Description: Dramatic delamination error coin.Major error (planchet delamination error). A huge band of detached lamination affects over 40% of the reverse face. The rump and right rear leg and hoof are completely absent.This coin suffered from impurities and contamination within the metal alloy of the planchet.The impure vein (bands) of metal can also be seen from the rim and letters AMER over the hump of the buffalo and extends to the opposite rim. This impure band of metal is more of a lighter copper color and very distinctive.Coin weight is 4.7 grams, (an expected loss of weight from the detached band of metal. 5.0 grams is normal weight).1. The rear backbone and rump are absent . 2. The buffalo's entire tail is absent. 3. The entire upper and lower extremity of the rear right leg is absent.4. The ever present belly appendage is absent (anatomical unit).5. The delamination extends to the letters ENTS of CENTS.This error coin has been in my collection for the last 25 years.The 1937-D 3 Legged Buffalo (a result of an abraded die), does not compare to this major US Buffalo 5 cent delaminated error coin.
