Description: 1933 Chicago World's Fair Silver-plate Souvenir Spoon Science Court For Your Chicago World Fair Collection Details Description: This is a souvenir spoon from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, The Century of Progress. The spoon is silver plated and was part of a larger set that depicted all the major attractions of the fair. The upper stem of all spoons show the elegant fair logo with the date 1933 and the motto "Century of Progress." On the reverse side of the upper stem is the image of the Rostrum of the Hall of Science. Closer to the bowl is the word "Chicago." The bowl has a detailed engraving of the Science Court buildings with its central tower. It was ultramodern in design, it was here that far-reaching experiments were made in unusual lighting and color effects, and in choice of construction plans and materials. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: 1933. Origin: USA Size: It measures 6" in length and the bowl is 2 1/4" by 1 1/4". Maker: Oneida. Marks: Oneida Community Par Plate on the back of the handle. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Interesting piece of world's fair memorabilia. Condition: It is in excellent condition with minimal surface scratches. It has wear commensurate with its age. These were black with tarnish when found and we've cleaned them pretty well, but could use just a little more polishing to return it to like-new condition.
