It was made in 1901. This bayonet was based on the Swiss M1889 bayonet. Overall, this bayonet is in Good - Very Good condition, considering its age. There are no major issues, but there is a lot of oxidation on the scabbard. The press catch is functional with average spring tension. There is some light oxidation in the area. Both the pommel and guard are securely fastened to the tang. They both have light scrapes and oxidation with some very light pitting. The rivets are securely fastened with some light oxidation. The wood grip panels have scattered draglines and compressions. The wood has darkened with age. The spine, fullers and sides have scuffs and handling marks. There are impact marks on the spine and very small pitting on the sides. The blade edge has scattered nicks and dings. It is hard to tell if the blade edge has been sharpened or not. There are scratches, but could be from the scabbard. They are not consistent throughout the blade edge. The tip is intact and comes to a semi-sharp straight point. The finish has been blued. The left ricasso is marked "1901" and the right ricasso is marked "US". The scabbard is in Fair - Good condition. The metal belt loop swivel is securely fastened to the body. It is functional and rotates smoothly. However, there is a lot of oxidation on it. The mouth, body and finial have scrapes, oxidation and areas of discoloration. Parts of the finish are in the white. There are no visible markings. This bayonet and scabbard will be a great addition to your Krag rifle, or to a bayonet collection in general.
