Description: This Canadian Five Cent Silver coin is guaranteed genuine and as described. The composition is 92.5 % silver (except for 1920 when it was changed to 80%). Please study the photos to be certain this coin will be an asset to your collection. (All five-cent silvers are at least 100 years old, so many have a lot of toning, something that many collectors value.) I've also attempted to identify the several varieties in this series. Page numbers refer to Charlton, 2010 and the 5-cent varieties described in the back of the book. Regarding pricing, I've consulted Canadian Trends and then adjusted the price to reflect U.S. Dollar prices. Please also note that Canadian Trends lists the lower value for each grade. For example "Very Fine" grades have 15 "numbers" from low to high, but the Trend Price is listed for the lowest VF grade. Therefore, if my estimation of the grade is higher than the lowest numerical grade, the price will also be higher. (I'm sure you already know that sellers are not permitted to use the numerical grades unless the coin is certified. Most lower-priced coins are not worth the certification charge, in my opinion.) If this explanation doesn't make sense, please ask me, and I'll explain it as fully as eBay will allow. I've been buying and selling coins for over 55 years and selling on eBay since June, 1998. I feel my selling prices are fair to everyone, so I DO NOT accept lower offers.
