Archival backed sheet. Surveyed by General Warren, this base map of 2nd Bull Run shows railroads, roads, houses and names of residents. Troop positions are not represented. One of the 23 different maps created and referenced in the court martial trial of Union General Porter. In 1862, Porter was accused of insubordination for failing to comply with an order from his superior, Major General Pope, to advance to a position that was being occupied by General Longstreet's Confederate forces. (We're going to dispense with the summary of these happenings due to their complexity and nuance; and the firm conviction that our paragraph long rewording of knowledgeable sources detailed and historical work disrespects the work of those historical laborers- besides, 23 differen't maps? -that doesn't seem to lend itself to quick summary. This map published in: "Senate documents, Volume 3; Volume 322" 1879. The majority of maps are base map with different troop manoeuvres overlaid in color. Our offering today is map #8. The Chaplain J. Landstreet map. (Often mistakenly refered to as Captain J. Landstreet Map). Map Condition: Very Good, with minimal restoration to repair tears along folds, and stabilize with backing. A handsome piece of Civil War cartography. Very Good +. Seller ID: 005106 Subject: Maps Dubois Rare Books Items are 100% guaranteed.
