Description: The Burlington, Cedar Rapids & Northern Railway (BCR&N) operated from 1876 to 1903, having been formed to take over the operations of the bankrupt Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Minnesota Railway, which was, in turn, the result of merging several predecessor lines. It had operations in Iowa and in Minnesota. It was succeeded by the Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway. Surviving BCR&N lines are now primary owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad. For auction is a very rare capital stock certificate dated December 18, 1877. It was for 70 shares priced $100 each/n. Even though it is well over 130 years old, it is in good condition. There is no writing or marking, no rips or tears. The corners are rough and show some wear.
