First Issue. Illustration focused magazine. As such the quality of the plates is very good. First illustration titled "First View Of The Sierras By California Pioneers" The plate depicting the Columbia River from a photo by Watkins is exceptionally nice. The text content is charming as well. There is a nice write up and engraving of a popular California Author. Some other California content, such as an Ode to the original pioneers. Some fun children's content as well. Worldcat shows only five institutional holdings. Cover is a bit dirty. Corners are creased. I did not see any writing or markings.
