The company used this alloy as the base metal for its silver-plated household products. The Meriden Britannia Company was founded in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut, as a manufacturing company focused on the production of Britannia metal goods. Over time, it became the largest silverware company in the world. Meriden Britannia designs are included in many collections of renowned museums around the world. This beautiful teapot represents the company's product line as it was in the second half of the 19th century. The year of manufacture as marked is 1861.Its condition is very good for its age, traces of time, aged patina and signs of use are clearly visible.
