DATE PRINTED: 1823 (dated on print)SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 8.5 x 11 cm, 3.25 x 4.25 inches plus margins (small) with a blank back.ARTIST/ENGRAVER: Drawn and engraved by J & H.S. Storer. James Sargant Storer (1771–1853) was an English draughtsman and engraver. Storer was born in 1771, and devoted himself to the production of works on topography and ancient architecture, the plates in which he drew and engraved himself on a small scale. From 1814 James Storer worked wholly in conjunction with his eldest son Henry, whom he outlived. He died at his house at Islington on 23 December 1853, and was buried beside his son at St. James's Chapel, Pentonville. PROVENANCE: Published in "The Port-Folio; a collection of engravings from antiquarian, architectural, and topographical subjects, curious works of art". Published by London, Sherwood & Co. A scarce publication. TYPE: Antique copper plate engraving printed on paper. VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank. CONDITION: Good; suitable for framing. There is no additional postage charge if you order more than one print.BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Clifton Reynes is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority area of the City of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, England. It is about a mile east of Olney. The parish church dedicated to St Mary is (unusually for a Buckinghamshire church) completely castellated: even the gables are embattled. The tower is thought to be Norman; however, the top is later probably 14th century. The majority of the building is of the 13th, 14th and 15th centuries and the nave is unusually tall.
