This is the Ferdinand VII 8 Reales depicting the bust of King Ferdinand the Seventh of Spain on the obverse. The obverse of this large, silver dollar size coin, has the legend "FERDIN.VII.DEI.GRATIA" surrounding the king's bust and the date 1820 below it. The reverse depicts the crowned arms of Spain between pillars with the legend "HESPANIA.ET IND.REX" followed by the mint mark "Zs" then 8R. A.G." all surrounding the arms. The coin was minted in the city of Zacatecas. These coins were used extensively in the US before the silver dollars were circulated. The coin is nicely toned and shows all the details very well. It is graded EF45 by ANACS and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. It is a truly a nice coin with great eye appeal and has nice heft to it. Weight and Size: The coin is ~37 mm in diameter and should weigh ~27 grams of 90.3% silver. References: KM#111.5. Condition: The coin is graded by ANACS as extremely fine EF 45 and comes in a plastic slab so labeled. The coin is nicely toned in gray toning with no major marks for the grade. It has well preserved details with wear commensurate with its age and circulated status. It does show a line resulting from a die crack at 10:30 o'clock on the reverse.
