Description: 1726 Holy Bible printed in Oxford by John Baskett. This is one of the copies that is profusely illustrated with pages of small plates. Inside front cover this is an inscription that says "Bound for second time October 30, 1786". It's unclear if they used the original front cover at that time or not. Front cover has a design similar to what you would expect from an early Baskett Bible. Rear cover is from a mismatched printing and has been cut down on the bottom to better match the size of the front cover. Both hinges are cracked, but covers are holding surprisingly well by cords. Feels solid in your hands despite the splits in leather. Has some bent page corners. Dedication to Prince James is missing a large portion of page. Title page looks to have been laid down on another piece of paper to solidify it. Some margins cut close. A little bit of West family history on back side of New Testament title page. New Testament dated 1725. Includes Tables, Index, and Concordance at rear. Concordance margins cut very close affecting text. Despite some flaws, this is overall a rustic but attractive copy! Measures about 9.75" x 7.25" and a little over 3" thick. Please review pictures for a better idea of the condition. I carefully package all of my books to ensure that they remain safe during shipping. Check out my other book and Bible listings! I may have more like this one that you would be interested in!
